Scott and I went to the beach this past weekend... and had so much fun. I told Scott it would be our last vacation just the two of us. He said I was wrong, that it was the first vacation we'd have as the three of us. We settled on two and a half! It was nice to spend a little time away, however brief the time.
Before we left, I decided that I needed a maternity bathing suit. Well, here's the thing. There are just some things that should not be made that big... for example real bikinis or bathing suit tops that are cut down to your ever expanding belly. Really... no one wants to see that! So, with momma's help, I settled on a granny suit that made me look somewhat like a beached albino whale. I still claim I looked better as a beached albino whale than the girl we saw on the beach who was clearly very pregnant and in the bathing suit that was probably too small for her 8 months ago. Also... while we're talking crazy maternity clothes... what's with the tops that require a strapless bra? That's uncomfortable period... more or less when you're 7 months pregnant!
Before we left I had to go back to the doctor, something that is now happening more and more frequently. I was a little nervous about this trip, because it was the scary one that determined if I got any more chocolate ice cream and sweet tea for the next 3 months... that's right... I had to drink the sweet stuff! Everyone had me all freaked out about it. I was pretty sure it was going to be a solid that I had to chew after listening to everyone elses horror stories! Turns out it wasn't half bad. Just tasted like someone had forgotten that they had already sweetened the cool-aid, so they added a little more sugar just to be on the safe side! Scott tasted a drop or two... he didn't seem to mind it either! Anyway... on to the good news... Sweet Tea is still okay for Sarah! I passed the glucose tolerance test with flying colors... despite the obstacles it took me to get there:
1) My Scott decided to be a sweetie and bring me breakfast that morning... a biscuit and orange juice. I was so excited I almost drank that juice, until we remember that orange juice is the one thing I was told not to have or I would most definitely fail the test. Scott got two glasses of orange juice that morning and I had water.
2) Scott Gunnett decided to be a sweetie and bring everyone Sandra's Bakery Donuts to school. So yummy... so not an option on the day you're trying to prove you should be able to eat them for the next 3 months!
Anyway... despite all of that, I passed!
I gained 3 more pounds this month... which seems to be a good thing. In the weeks to come I think it'll continue to increase! By the time Kaleb gets here I'll probably be a Sarah of mammoth proportions. My plan is to get on the Wii Fit just before my due date. I've been boycotting it for a while now because it keeps telling me to stop gaining weight. (I still claim the makers are idiots... who doesn't put a pregnant button on there!) So I plan on hopping on just before Kaleb's arrival... and then again when I get home from the hospital. Take that Wii Fit... I lost 15 lbs overnight!
Since I'm rambling, I'll come to a close. I would like to say that I finally have some pictures of Kaleb (which are now about 2 months old) which I'll have Scott put up here soon. Hopefully I'll be back sooner next time-
Sarah

First, if the bathing suit did what you wanted it to & covered the Kale-bump, then it shouldn't matter what you look like...you're a beautiful woman & soon-to-be-mommy...just let me know if someone doesn't agree & I'll stuff them in a drawer!! ;o) HA!
ReplyDeleteSecond, I enjoy the fact that you think you're going to lose 15 lbs. over night! I'm not completely certain, but I don't think that's how it works! The Wii Fit is a good idea, did you ask your doctor about it?? I mean as far as asking if it'll suffice for the pregnancy workout routine...hehe
LOVE YOU...can't wait to see you sometime this weekend!
I didn't think the Glucose test was that bad either. I admit by the end of drinking the stuff I was having to force it down. I like the part of the wii fit. While you may lose 15 right out of the hosptial (I lost 14, came home only needing to lose 5 more, and a friend of mine lost 21.) I can assure you that you will not want to get back on the wii fit for a couple of weeks. But all in all I think it is a good plan. :) I can't imagine that you looked like a beach albino whale! Although I will say buying bathingsuits while pregnant not fun. It is hard enough before pregnancy to get one that you think looks ok... add a belly to it, and forget finding one! I will say Pregnancy and Bikini's do not go hand in hand. There should never be an option for pregnant people to wear bikini's!
